The prophet Daniel was given numerous prophecies concerning time frames beyond the moment in which he was living. And Jesus referred to Daniel when making a point about the moment which everyone on the planet should be watching for in the future:
Matthew 24:15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.
22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.” (Biblegateway.com)
In my humble opinion, we may be looking at the time in world history when this could happen. Donald Trump is considered “the great negotiator.” Read with me the prophecy in Daniel 9:27 …
27″He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’[Seven years]In the middle of the ‘seven’[Approximately 3 1/2 years] he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple[or holy place] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.“
Now, I’m going to invite some controversy….
The common theological take on this verse is that “he” represents the highly anticipated “Antichrist.” I’m not saying that this won’t turn out to be the case. However, scripture often has multiple meanings. So, I’m watching and wondering what role DJT is going to fill in God’s end times plan, since the Donald’s unexpected victory seemed like an obvious “God-thing” to those of us who watch for such occurrences.
I have a couple of questions:
- Could the first “he” in the prophecy represent Donald Trump, who may have the skills needed to negotiate “a covenant with many for one ‘seven'” — seven years.
- Could the second “he” in sentence 2, and the third “he” in sentence 3, represent a separate individual — obviously the “two beasts” detailed in Revelation 13. (Keep in mind that Catholic monks separated the Hebrew scriptures as they translated them into other languages. So just because these three sentences are labeled “verse 27” does NOT mean that they should necessarily be grouped together when examining the symbolism.)
Consider what Revelation 13 foretells:
The dragon[Satan — Rev. 20:2] stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. 2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. 4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?”
5 The beast [Antichrist?] was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.[Jesus]
9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.
10 “If anyone is to go into captivity,
into captivity they will go.
If anyone is to be killed with the sword,
with the sword they will be killed.”
This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.
11 Then I saw a second beast [the “false prophet” — Rev. 16:13; 19:20; 20:10], coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16
18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[e] That number is 666.
Notice that Rev. 13 describes three key players: the dragon — a.k.a. the devil (biblical), the beast coming out of the sea — a.k.a “Antichrist”(not biblical), and the beast coming out of the earth — a.k.a. “the false prophet” (biblical).
At this moment in time, Donald Trump does NOT fit the description in Rev. 13 of the first beast, or as many scholars choose to call him, “Antichrist.” (Read verses 5-7 again.)
And notice that it is not the “Antichrist” that orders this man’s image set up to be worshiped by EVERYONE, or be sentenced to death. The one who does this is Beast #2, also called “the false prophet” later in Revelation.
These two distinct personalities must be separated from each other when discerning what “Antichrist” will do, because many preach that “Antichrist” (one man) will set up an image that will desecrate the rebuilt temple. This assumption is FALSE.
I’ve been wondering about this for many years.
So, now that a master deal maker will — God protect him — be confirmed as President of the United States, I’m going to float the possibility that Donald Trump could fulfill Prophecy A (the first sentence) in Daniel 9:27, which could pave the way for the two “beasts” of Rev. 13 to collude together, propose rebuilding the Jewish Temple during a seven-year time of manufactured peace, and fulfill the last two sentences — Prophecy B.
I am only speculating, and I’m definitely NOT “a prophet.” At any rate, this final week before Donald Trump is officially declared 45th President of the United States, is bound to prove interesting to watch.
Watch with me, please!
