THE GOD OF HEAVEN SPOKE THROUGH DREAMS CONCERNING THE FUTURE …
(Based on Daniel 1-2 and 7, New International Version and BibleGateway.com)
I’m going to veer away now from Ken Raggio’s teachings that I shared in Parts 5-7 and go back to scripture, because I feel that most Bible scholars and prophecy “experts” have run ahead of God in their commentaries regarding the historical fulfillment of the fourth beast kingdom.
“After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast – terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims [Remember the fourth kingdom in Nebuchadnezzar’s statue dream? “… there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others“] and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.
“While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully.
“As I looked,
“thrones were set in place,
and the Ancient of Days took his seat.
His clothing was as white as snow;
the hair of his head was white like wool.
His throne was flaming with fire,
and its wheels were all ablaze.
A river of fire was flowing,
coming out from before him.
Thousands upon thousands attended him;
ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.
The court was seated,
and the books were opened.
“Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words the horn was speaking. I kept looking until the beast was slain and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire. (The other beasts had been stripped of their authority, but were allowed to live for a period of time.)” (Daniel 7:7-12)
Let’s summarize the basic characteristics of the fourth beast:
- Large iron teeth
- Crushed and devoured its victims
- Trampled the remains
- Different from the former three
- Had ten horns (symbolic of power)
Would you agree that this kingdom seems similar to the Roman Empire with its IRON-like strength and CRUSHING insensitivity toward its victims? Since the Roman Empire was never technically conquered, and we can still see evidence of its influence in modern western culture — in the way America’s government is structured, for example, and in the attire of the Statue of Liberty — could the fourth beast with “large iron teeth” be an extension of the kingdom represented by “the legs of iron” on Nebuchadnezzar’s “enormous” statue?
Could the ten toes on Nebuchadnezzar’s dream statue have a connection to the ten horns that Daniel saw on the fourth beast in his dream? Notice: there was nothing on the statue that could be construed as symbolizing the “little horn” that appeared among the “ten horns” on the fourth beast. In my opinion, that is confirmation that the man represented by the “little horn with eyes of a human being” would not appear during the time of the first four kingdoms — Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece or Rome. Instead he will appear AFTER the first three beast kingdoms — Great Britain / America, Russia, and Germany — have lost their power.
According to Daniel’s prophecy, the fourth beast kingdom will be: terrifying, powerful, strong, and ruthless. It will “trample what what has been built and acquired by Great Britain, America, Russia and Germany. It will be “different” — something that we have never seen before in recorded modern history.
Daniel did not need to speculate about the meaning of the four beasts he had seen in his dream …
“I, Daniel, was troubled in spirit, and the visions that passed through my mind disturbed me. I approached one of those standing there and asked him the meaning of all this. So he told me and gave me the interpretation of these things: ‘The four great beasts are four kings that will rise from the earth.’ (Daniel 7:15-17)
“‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom.‘” (Daniel 7:23-24a)
Interestingly, John speaks of seeing a beast with ten horns during his vision of the Revelation from Jesus Christ. It is described in Chapter 17 …
[John speaking] “Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns…. The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast. They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.” (Revelation 17:3, 12-13)
Once again — as with Nebuchadnezzar’s dream interpretation and Daniel’s vision of the four beasts — clues are given as to the meaning of the cryptic language used in the prophecy. And this one leads back to Rome.…
- “The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits. ” (Researcher and author Dave Hunt writes: “Only one city has for more than 2000 years been known as the city on seven hills. That city is Rome. The Catholic Encyclopedia states: ‘It is within the city of Rome, called the city on seven hills, that the entire area of Vatican State proper is now confined.‘”)
I’ll let you come to your own conclusions.
